(Changwon=Yeonhap News) Reporter Kim Sun-kyung = Changwon City, Gyeongnam, will support the development of an advanced aviation maintenance and repair (MRO) business.
Changwon City announced on the morning of the 21st that it signed a business agreement with YoungPoong Electronics, a defense SME in Changwon, to foster the advanced aviation MRO industry.
Changwon City and YoungPoong Electronics will collaborate to create a mutually beneficial partnership in the advanced aviation MRO trade industry, identify strategies to boost the sector, enhance the infrastructure, develop skilled professionals in advanced aviation MRO, and seek opportunities for global market expansion.
Established in 1986, YoungPoong Electronics has been at the forefront of developing and supplying a wide array of drive and power controllers. Their expertise spans multiple sectors including land, sea, air, guided weapons, navigation system, and the emerging field of Urban Air Mobility (UAM) for the drone era.
In 2022, the company was selected as a defense innovator in the field of drones in the “100-Defense Innovation Company” project led by the DAPA.
Changwon Mayor Hong Nam-pyo stated that they would promote policies to support land, sea, and aviation defense, as well as actively encourage Changwon to become a global aviation MRO industry hub.
